Timer Functions
   - Standard timer
   - RTC – real-time clock
   - WDT - watchdog timer
   - CAPCOM - Capture/compare unit
   - PWM – pulse width modulation

Serial Interface Functions
   - UART - universal asynchronous receiver transmitter
   - USART - universal synchronous/asynchronous receiver transmitter
   - SCI - serial communication interface
   - SPI - serial peripheral interface
   - I2C - inter-integrated circuit (Philips IIC interface)

Overview: Serial Bus System Controller
   - CAN - controller area network
   - USB - universal serial bus
   - Ethernet - data network technology (LAN)

Interrupt Controller
   - Synchronization of peripheral events and CPU
   - Vector table, interrupt service routines

Direct Memory Access
   - DMA controller
   - HW/SW triggered data transmission
